The long-handle and short-handle gate valves are among the most common polymer valves used for opening and closing the flow path. When the valve is fully open, the disc is completely removed from the flow passage, resulting in no obstruction to the fluid movement. As a result, these valves generate significantly lower pressure drop compared to other types of valves.
Specifications of Long-Handle and Short-Handle Polymeric Gate Valve
The long-handle polymeric gate valve is a type of gate valve equipped with an extended fixed handle. This handle is completely rigid, meaning its length does not increase or decrease. The long-handle gate valve is specifically designed for underground pipeline networks.
It is commonly used for opening and closing lateral inlets, irrigation sub-lines, potable water pipelines, sewage lines, and similar applications. In this design, the handwheel is mounted on the long handle, allowing easy operation of the valve without the need for additional effort. This convenience is made possible by the extended stem (shaft) connected directly to the valve.
The internal stem responsible for opening and closing the valve (connecting the handwheel to the gate) is made of aluminum and is covered with a protective plastic layer to prevent corrosion and contact with soil. The standard handle length ranges from 30 to 100 centimeters, and can be customized based on customer requirements.

Applications of Long-Handle and Short-Handle Gate Valves
If you intend to use underground pipeline systems, long-handle gate valves are highly recommended. Gate valves operate by opening and closing the flow path through the vertical movement of a disc (or wedge) relative to the fluid stream.
The long-handle and short-handle polymeric gate valves are certified
by the Water and Soil Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, making them suitable for use in pressurized irrigation systems in the agricultural sector. These valves are available in various connection types, including double-socket, male–socket, and double-male configurations.
It is important to note that gate valves should not be used for flow regulation or throttling. This is because controlling flow rate with this type of valve is difficult and imprecise. High flow velocity through a partially open gate valve can lead to erosion of the disc and sealing surfaces, as well as vibration and noise generation.
